Myth and Material

The visual landscape of colour and material in India is captivating. Underlying the seductive surface are layers of meaning and symbology. The mirrors shown here are magnified graphic representations of the different stitch techniques used to apply mirrors to Indian textiles. The mirrors are said to deflect "Nazar", the evil or jealous eye.
